Increasingly, employers are struggling to find good people in a competitive market place. This is a problem as the hunt for talent impedes organizational growth. Traditionally, HR has focused on engaging staff in order to drive performance but imagine an organization that puts the employee at the very heart of every decision, initiative, policy, system, process so that engagement is a part of everything we do. If organisations focus on the creation of a great place to work the rest will follow. In a hybrid world the employee experience is key to inclusion and retention. But how can an organisation create an environment that is a great experience for all?

This programme will provide learners with an understanding of the employee experience concept through research-based insights and practical case study examples. It will explore organisational culture, philosophy and values, leadership models and management practice and how each contributes to the employee experience. It will assess the ways in which an organisation benefits from putting the employee first, both through the bottom line and reputationally. By the end of the programme, learners will be equipped to compile an action plan for reviewing their organisational employee experience in a hybrid world.

This programme is designed for HR professionals and consultants who are seeking to advance their knowledge and understanding of employee engagement through employee experience.

At the end of the programme learners will be able to:

• Explain how an ‘employee first’ philosophy is good for business
• Evaluate contemporary research insights and practice-based examples in order to assess the essential pillars of employee experience

Your facilitator: Dr. Kay Maddox-Daines

With a background in organisational development and professional education Dr Kay Maddox-Daines have worked across both the public and private sectors, with organisations of all sizes in a variety of Learning and Development and HR Leadership and Advisory roles. Kay has experience in managing culture change programmes; designing and delivering leadership and management development programmes; accrediting courses to professional awarding body standards; creating employee engagement; designing well-being programmes; improving corporate communication; designing and delivering effective coaching and mentoring programmes.

Dr Kay Maddox-Daines is a Visiting Fellow in University of Suffolk. She is Head of School for People Management at Arden University, a private, for profit institution that specialises in the delivery of both blended and online distance learning delivery. Kay is also External Examiner for Human Resource Management programmes at the American University in Greece and Leeds Beckett University in the UK. As a Registered Career Development Professional (RCDP) with the UK Career Development Institute, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and an Executive Career Coach, Kay enjoys connecting academia with leaders and managers across the public and private sectors.

Previously, Kay worked as Director of Academic Development at Acacia Learning Ltd, overseeing accredited programmes, as a leadership and career coach, a consultant and in a variety of managerial positions in people management across the public and private sectors. Kay has taught, trained and coached professionals and executives in the UK, Eastern Europe, Gibraltar and the Middle East.

In her spare time Kay leads on people management matters as a non-executive director for the Sigma Trust, the largest multi academy trust in Essex consisting of over 11, 000 pupils, 1600 staff and an annual income of over £50 million. Always keen to encourage others to join the people profession, Kay’s book, ‘How to get a job in HR and get promoted’ will be published in September 2021.
